Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Legal Assistant with strong negotiation skills. This role involves providing comprehensive administrative support to attorneys while also managing communications and negotiations related to cases, contracts, and settlements.
The ideal candidate will have a solid legal background, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively negotiate on behalf of the firm or clients in a professional and results-driven manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, format, and manage legal documents including contracts, pleadings, discovery, and correspondence.
Coordinate attorney schedules, meetings, deadlines, and case-related appointments.
Draft and review legal communications, basic agreements, and notices.
Act as liaison in settlement negotiations, payment plans, and pre-litigation discussions.
Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and third parties.
Maintain organized case files and support legal research and case preparation.
Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or a related field.
2–3 years of experience in a legal assistant, paralegal, or legal negotiation role.
Solid understanding of legal terminology, documentation, and procedures.
Detail-oriented with excellent multitasking and time management abilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with legal case management systems.
Able to work independently and collaboratively within a legal team.
Bilingual abilities are a plus, depending on client needs.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in civil litigation, collections, immigration, or real estate law.
Hands-on negotiation experience (e.g., settlements, claims, pre-court resolutions).
Understanding of contract law and basic legal drafting.
Compensation:
The starting salary for this full-time role ranges from $30,000 to $40,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Compensation is competitive and aligned with California’s minimum wage standards, with opportunities for growth based on performance and contribution.
